Great post ... more gear to think about. :-O I am pretty hard on watches when I kayak as I tend to leave them on the beach when taking off my drysuit or forget where I put it. So for me I use a simple Timex Expedition with a Velcro strap that doesn't cost a whole lot just in case I leave it behind for someone else to use ..... again. :-)

One issue I have is that I am far sighted so seeing a watch face is difficult unless I have reading glasses to see it clearly. I have started looking at some watches with large digital displays with a back light as an option Age ..... stuffs starts to breakdown. :-(
